Add a bit of insight to something that interests you. (2 minutes)
Scroll through your home timeline, or look at a connection’s activity history, and add a comment to something that interests you.
But make sure you add some value with your comment - just saying ‘this is interesting’ is not interesting.
What insight or value can you add?
Remember you can join up to 100 groups on LinkedIn to find useful updates in your area of special expertise, and to demonstrate your particular knowledge.
1. Add Personal Insights or Experiences
Instead of just agreeing with a post, share a relevant personal experience or insight. For example, if the post is about overcoming challenges in leadership, you could add a brief anecdote from your own journey. This personal touch not only makes your comment unique but also invites others to reflect on their own experiences.
Example: "This really resonates with me. I faced a similar challenge when leading a project last year—focusing on clear communication helped us turn things around. It's amazing how small shifts can make a big difference!".
2. Ask Thought-Provoking Questions
Encourage further discussion by asking a thoughtful question. A good question can spark a conversation and bring out different perspectives, keeping the post's engagement high and adding depth to the discussion.
Example: "I love this idea of embracing failure as growth. What strategies do you all use to help your teams feel safe experimenting, even if they might fail?"
3. Provide Resources or Expand on Ideas
When appropriate, link to a relevant article, book, or share an insight that expands on the original topic. This positions you as a helpful resource and adds tangible value to the conversation.
Example: "This reminds me of the book 'Atomic Habits' by James Clear—small changes really do add up! If anyone's interested in diving deeper into building habits, it's a great read."
